as the twisted members of IRTE craft your suggestions into a story
worthy of the KING of Horror, himself! Dare you face... THE SCARY?!!
THE SCARY, directed by Pat Shay (PIT Faculty, iO and Second City
Touring Companies), is a long-form improvised comedy that borrows common
themes and tropes from Stephen King's most popular works and, based on
audience suggestions, creates an entirely new and FUNNY LIVE horror
show. IRTE uses simple costumes, props and strong characters for a very
theatrical, often silly, narrative-driven improvised show.
IRTE, the Improvisational Repertory Theatre Ensemble, is BACK with
its third season of improvised shows. After another highly successful
season of full houses, stand-out fest appearances and glowing praise,
the NYC-based ensemble of comedy actors and writers returns with its own
unique brand of original themed, character-driven improvisational shows
performed in rep.
Most recently, IRTE performed at the 15th and 16th Anniversary Del
Close Marathons, the 2014 NYC Improv Festival, the 2013 Tampa Improv
Festival, the 2013 Unscripted New York Improvised Theatre and Film
Festival, the 2013 New Orleans Comedy Arts Festival and the 2012
Portland Improv Festival. In 2013, IRTE enjoyed a residency at Gotham
City Improv with occasional performances at the People's Improv Theatre.
IRTE is currently in residence at The Producers Club in the heart of
the New York City theatre district. Individual members' credits include
performances at Upright Citizens Brigade, the Groundlings, the People's
Improv Theatre, Gotham City Improv and the Magnet, as well as
professional off-Broadway and regional theater and feature film
productions (The Public Theater, The Kennedy Center, NY Theater
Workshop).
